Challenge Business – Global Challenge
The inspiration behind Challenge Business was Sir Chay Blyth. In 1971 aboard the 59ft ketch British Steel, he became the first person to sail non-stop around the world against the prevailing winds and currents.
This event provided the seed for Sir Chay to create his business and a fleet of twelve 72’ Global Challenge yachts were racing the ‘wrong way’ around the world against winds and currents every 4th year, crewed by ordinary people, from all walks of life and nationality, sailors and non-sailors alike.
The fleet of identical yachts ensured that only the teamwork, seamanship, skill and determination determined victory.
